Our Whare Karakia – Peterehema

Our Hangi Fundraiser has closed.
Thank you for your support…

Our Whare Karakia (Church) has been around since the early 1920’s of which it has seen many people come and go, used for many kinds of services and even Christened many many children while being the focal point of congregation for the small community of Ripia.

Looked after by the whānau of Ripia Marae, Peterehema (Bethlehem) is the small Church that after being there for many people is now in need of our help to restore and refurbish her with a bit of TLC.

At present the church needs funds to help restore it to a useable and safe condition. With the likes of unstable foundations, wood-rot or bora, the need for new mechanisms for the windows, funrniture, a lick of paint and even the relocation of the door to allow Tūpapaku (decased/caskets) to get into the Church, these are some significant costs that we need help fundraising for – so we need your help.

On Saturday, 11th December 2021 we held a fundraiser to start the refurbishment project bringing in over $3,000.00.

In advanced, we want to thank you for your contribution and support. For more information around this kaupapa and project, please call the Whakahaere of the Whare Karakia Project: Allie Ripia on 0800 174 742.

Ngā manaakitanga o te runga rawa i runga i tātou katoa… Amene.
