
Yesterday, marae and hapū of Te Iwi o Ngāti Whātua came together in the spirit of kotahitanga for the benefit of #KaiparaMoana for the Remediation programme.
Among many of the Marae, Ripia Marae Chairperson and Marae Taumata Rep attended to be apart of the most auspicious and momentous occasion for Te Uri of Kaipara.
Kaipara descendants, Auckland and Northland local bodies and the government today began a $300mil plan aimed at rescuing the Kaipara Moana. The new partners signed a memorandum of understanding for the $300mil Kaipara Moana Remediating Programme at Waihāua Marae today.
It recognises an equal partnership to undertake the decade-long project, which will remediate environmental degradation by halving sediment loss from land to sea. Kaipara Moana is the world’s second largest natural harbour.
